From Ps. 146 (USCCB version):
Blessed the one whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD, his God,
The maker of heaven and earth,
the seas and all that is in them,
Who keeps faith forever,
secures justice for the oppressed,
who gives bread to the hungry.
The LORD sets prisoners free;
the LORD gives sight to the blind.
The LORD raises up those who are bowed down;
the LORD loves the righteous.
The LORD protects the resident alien,
comes to the aid of the orphan and the widow,
but thwarts the way of the wicked.
The LORD shall reign forever,
your God, Zion, through all generations!
Hallelujah!
What a comfort it is to know that the Lord shall reign forever. He cannot be overthrown or supplanted. His goodness and faithfulness are everlasting. He is the perfect ruler; just, loving, and compassionate. He is close to us, He knows each of us by name, knows the number of hairs on our heads, and He cares about our every need. We are truly a blessed people.
Father in heaven, we stand in awe of Your infinite power and might. You reign over the heavens and the earth, the universe obeys Your every command. Yet, we also feel Your presence in our lives, the still small voice which guides and directs us, which leads us in the path of righteousness. Help us to daily listen for Your voice, and to always worship you as the King of creation and the King of our hearts, souls, and minds. Amen.
